News Release

The “Alum Creek Fantasy of Lights” returns for its sixth year as the only drive through Christmas Light Extravaganza in the area. Opening on November 18th and running through December 30th this display of over one million lights on Hollenback Road promises to be another banner year!.

This year, holiday seeker’s can expect to see over 125 displays including some with animation. “It is a combination of beautiful works of art in lights, giant twinkling sculptures, brilliant tunnels, cascading arches, and unbelievable animated themed areas…truly a spectacular “Fantasy of Lights,” says Mike Howard, President of Midwest Display, Inc., producer of many of the displays.

Over the past decade many cities across the country have focused their Holiday celebrations on drive through Christmas Displays. Some of which have grown to attract crowds in the hundreds of thousands, like Oglebay, West Virginia. “We are confident that this holiday attraction will be one that will just keep on growing. People are always looking for things to do over the holidays and this offers families the opportunity to stay in the comfort of their cars as they drive down to the Marina,” says Steve Cross, owner and producer of the “Alum Creek Fantasy of Lights.”

Once visitors reach the Marina they can get out and stretch, munch on free cookies and warm up with hot chocolate while their little ones visit with Santa. The Marina shop which is transformed in true holiday fashion offers many unique gift items and photos with Santa. All proceeds from the photos along with a portion of the gate benefits Recreation Unlimited.

Raising money for this local worthwhile charity, along with getting people to see our beautiful marina was the motivation behind starting this event, commented Cross. The price will remain the same as last year. Cars will be $10.00 Monday through Thursday and $15.00 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Since there is no per person charge this makes the “Alum Creek Fantasy of Lights” a very affordable family activity. Even the pictures with Santa at $5.00 per picture (not per person) are the cheapest price around!

So load up the car or invite the neighbors along and come early or on weekdays for a drive you won’t soon forget, says Cross. Obviously, the number of cars gets larger the closer it gets to Christmas and on weekends!
