Location: U.S. Route 6 and Coen Road Vermilion Township, OH Latitude: N 41° 24.92’ Longitude: W 082° 23.39’ Waterbody: Lake Erie Access Site Type: Recreational Environments: Bluff Riparian/River Sandy Beach Monitoring: - Research: - Grants: CMAG 1998	The 21.2-acre Sherod Park in Vermilion Township is located northeast of the Coen Road and U.S. Route 6 (West Lake Road) intersection. Sherod Park is adjacent to the west of the Coen Road Access, a 0.21-acre end-of-road access site. Combined, the two sites create nearly a quarter mile of coastal access on Lake Erie. Atop a low, graded, vegetated bluff, a line of park benches spaced between deciduous trees affords scenic views of Lake Erie. One of the park’s parking lots is located just south of the grassy area at the top of the bluff, allowing those who wish to sit in their vehicles equally scenic views. The Sherod Park beach is predominately sand; however, groins along the beach have accumulated larger quantities of invasive shells and rocks near the water’s edge. The vegetated groins also provide Lake Erie fishing access. Sherod Park’s amenities include monuments, baseball and soccer fields, playground equipment, a picnic pavilion and a Par Course Fit Center exercise trail. An Ohio Coastal Management Program grant funded, in part, the Sherod Park Development Study – Feasibility Project in 1998.
