08/13/2012 The Lake Erie Bluffs in Lake County has been added to the Lake Erie Public Access Guide. The site, acquired in 2010, opened to the public on June 30, 2012. 


04/09/2012 The Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge has been added to the Lake Erie Public Access Guide. This increases the number of public access sites along Ohio's Lake Erie shore to 169. A few of these sites will open to the public later in the year after amenities along site access are finalized. The statistics on the home page  representing the new sites will be updated in the near future.




03/01/2012 An additional 74-acres are acquired by Erie MetroParks to add to Wyandot Wetland Meadows Preserve. This increase includes an addition of 0.3 miles of shore on East Sandusky Bay.



02/29/2012 Sites that were previously combined on one page have divided so each public access site now has it’s own Webpage. While the full, printable Lake Erie Public Access Guidebook did not change, the Webpage updates created the following pages:

07/14/2011  Sandusky’s Paper District Marina and Amphitheater site is opened to the public bringing Ohio’s public access sites that are open to the public up to 166.

10/16/2010  A ribbon cutting ceremony is held for the Middle Bass Island East Point Preserve bringing Ohio’s public access sites that are open to the public up to 165.

11/30/2010 The Lake Erie Public Access Map Viewer is launched. Map Viewer.



09/21/2010 - Lake Erie Public Access sites added to a Google interactive Map Viewer.

By selecting the Map Viewer link which appears in the right column on every public access guide Webpage, a resizable pop-up window will appear. Blue thumbtacks mark each of Ohio’s 164 public access locations on Lake Erie. Selecting a blue thumbtack will open a bubble which lists the site name and has a header photo. You can visit the access site’s Webpage by selecting the sites name from the bubble window.



08/23/2010 - Learn More. Do More. See More. Links are being added to each public access site page to help you explore the coastal community around the site.
