South Bass Island’s two public ice ramps are both located on the west side of South Bass Island along West Shore Boulevard in Put-in-Bay Township.

Grants in 1998 and 1999 from the Ohio Coastal Management Program funded, in part, renovations and improvements to the southern ice ramp to provide access for ice fisherman, eliminate safety hazards, and rebuild the ice ramp and emergency boat launch.

The 0.06-acre West Shore Ice Ramp North is about 625 feet east of the Portsmouth Avenue intersection. The site is a 20-foot wide strip of land extending 160 feet at a northwest bearing from the road to Lake Erie. The access has no amenities and is predominantly used as a fishing site and kayak livery.
