Middle Bass is accessible by boat, public ferry and airplane. The majority of parkland is accessible from Fox Road, which runs from the public ferry dock north through the center of the 770.5-acre island. The park features a mile of coastal access and an expanded marina which opened in mid-summer 2009. The marina can dock up to 190 boats, providing island residents seasonal dockage and transient dock space for visitors. Design and construction of a bathhouse is underway. The marina’s entrance is on the east side of the island. Primitive camping is available. Along the park’s south side is the former Lonz Winery building. This site was used for wine production, storage and dance halls from 1863 until July 1, 2000, when the winery closed. The park also includes natural areas with endangered plant and wildlife species, wetlands, pocket beaches and unique glacial grooves and striations. As of March 2010, ODNR is reviewing the park’s site plan and seeking public/private partnerships for development.
