- 		The 1-acre Put-in-Bay Aquatic Visitors Center allows face-to-face interaction with live Lake Erie creatures. Housed in a former state fish hatchery, the center’s goal is to provide people an opportunity to bond with Lake Erie. The center has six aquariums filled with Lake Erie fish, microscopes to view plankton and other organisms and hands-on exhibits highlighting Ohio fish species, fisheries management, invasive species, fish anatomy and the old hatchery’s operations.

The state hatchery closed in 1988. In 1992 the ODNR Division of Wildlife transformed it into the Aquatic Visitors Center. The Ohio State University’s Ohio Sea Grant Program took over management in 2009, while maintaining a partnership with the Division of Wildlife. Admission is free. The center’s public fishing dock loans out fishing equipment and bait. Benches, a small picnic area and courtesy dockage are also available. This site is open seasonally in summer.
