NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index The NatureServe Climate Change Vulnerability Index can help identify plant and animal species that are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Using the Index, you apply readily available information about a species’ natural history, distribution and landscape circumstances to predict whether it will likely suffer a range contraction, population reductions, or both during the coming years.  Online Content

Climate Change Update Document to the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan Since the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan was developed in 2005, considerably more information on the potential threat of global climate change to natural and human systems has become available, as have strategies to increase resilience, increase adaptive capacity, and mitigate the effects of climate change. As part of an update to the Illinois Wildlife Action Plan, The Nature Conservancy rated the climate change vulnerability of 162 Species in Greatest Need of Conservation based on exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity.  Online Content

How Resilient is Your Coastal Community? A guide for evaluating coastal community resilience to tsunamis and other hazards  Describes hazards that coastal communities must face, such as flooding, severe storms, and shoreline erosion, and includes information about how to plan for hazards and risk and disaster management.

"Indicators to assess community-level social vulnerability to climate change"  The purpose of this document is to provide a minimum set of socioeconomic indicators related to climate change. These can be included in a socioeconomic assessment of any site for which climate change impacts are an important issue. The resulting information can then inform coastal management needs and adaptive management. This document meant to serve as an addendum to regional socioeconomic monitoring guidelines produced by the Global Socioeconomic Monitoring Initiative for Coastal Management (SocMon) and its Pacific counterpart, SEM-Pasifika, which aim to improve site management of coastal and marine areas by providing simple, user-friendly guidelines on how to conduct a socioeconomic assessment.   Such assessments help coastal managers incorporate community views into adaptive management of marine resources.

SimCLIM computer model system SimCLIM is a computer model system for examining the effects of climate variability and change over time and space. Its "open-framework" feature allows users to customise the model for their own geographical area and spatial resolution and to attach impact models. SimCLIM is designed to support decision making and climate proofing in a wide range of situations where climate and climate change pose risk and uncertainty. A user customised SimCLIM Open Framework System software package has the capacity to assess baseline climates and current variability and extremes. Risks can be assessed both currently and in the future. Adaptation measures can be tested for present day conditions and under future scenarios of climate change and variability. With the program, users can conduct sensitivity analysis and examine sectoral impacts of climate change. SimCLIM supports integrated impact analysis at various scales.

Drought Planning for Small Community Water Systems The goals of this project are to provide basic considerations for an initial assessment of drought preparedness for  small community water systems serving less than 10,000 persons in the 10 states in the Midwest Technology Assistance Center region; and to produce recommendations for conducting drought-sensitivity studies by small  community water systems in the MTAC region.
