WATER CONDITIONS

Temp: 68 °F

Level: The river is still about 5 feet high but is dropping.  The islands are not accessible at this time. The water clarity is poor. 

Fishing Effort: low

Level: The Sandusky River has dropped quickly over the weekend and is fishable.  The water clarity is poor.

FISH BEING CAUGHT

Fishing is slow.

BEST BAITS

White bass anglers are using spinners, minnows or bright twister tails.  Anglers are having the most success with minnows.

BEST LOCATIONS

Anglers are catching some white bass mostly in the Orleans Park and White St. areas.  Areas upstream of these sites should pick up as the water levels drop.

Best area is in the Miles Newton Bridge area.

OUTLOOK

White bass will remain in the river for much of June, but the number of white bass in the river will begin to drop.

COMMENTS

Do NOT keep any walleye shorter than 15 inches.  Please take a ruler with you.

We are nearing the end of the white bass run at this time.

Reminders:
Black bass season is closed to possession, from May 1 through the last Friday in June (June 24, 2011); any caught must be released immediately unharmed.  Black bass are protected by a 14-inch minimum length limit at all times. 
* Walleye have a 15-inch minimum size limit for the entire season.
*  Walleye daily bag limit is four (4) from March 1 through April 30.  Daily bag limits for walleye will be set on May 1 of each year.  A special publication announcing the new daily limits for walleye will be available at Wildlife District offices, the web site and license outlets.
