HIT THE TRAIL
FOR THE 40TH ANNUAL WINTER HIKE
AT HOCKING HILLS STATE PARK
Saturday, January 15
Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts will hit the trail with Governor Bob Taft and First Lady Hope Taft during the 40th Annual Winter Hike at Hocking Hills State Park this Saturday, January 15.
Come enjoy the area’s rugged, winter beauty on this popular scenic six-mile trek from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave.
Gather at the Old Man's Cave parking lot prior to 9 a.m. where groups of hikers will start down the trail to Ash Cave at regular intervals until 11 a.m. Along the way, interpreters will be available to discuss the history and nature of the area. The hike is expected to take about five hours.
Mid-way through the hike, a hearty lunch of bean soup, cornbread and hot chocolate will be available at Cedar Falls for a small donation. Park officials will provide return transportation from Ash Cave to Old Man's Cave following the event.
Located in southeastern Ohio, this seasonal tradition attracts thousands of hikers from across the state. Layered clothing and good footwear are recommended. The hike takes place regardless of the weather.
Hocking Hills State Park is located on State Route 664 in Hocking County, about 12 miles southwest of Logan. For further information about the Annual Winter Hike, call the park office at (740) 385-6841.
