XENIA, OH – The Division of Wildlife will host hunter education courses in October and November at three wildlife areas in southwest Ohio. These courses will be held at the Rush Run, Indian Creek and Fallsville wildlife areas.

XENIA, OH - Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH), a ministry that provides nutritious venison to the hungry through food banks and local feeding programs now has four participating coordinators in Southwest Ohio. FHFH helps hunters return to their heritage as food-providers by transforming deer - renewable resources- into meals for the hungry.

ATHENS, OH – On the eve of the opening day of Archery season in Ohio, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce has made a $1000 donation to the Athens area chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH).  The donation will receive a one hundred percent match in funds from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife to provide $2,000 of aid to local food banks.

AKRON, OH – Northeast Ohio sportsmen and women who are interested in becoming Hunter Education Instructors are encouraged to register for an upcoming training workshop in Akron according to the Ohio Division of Wildlife. The workshop will take place on Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st, 2009. Attendance is required on both dates to become certified.

COLUMBUS, OH - Biologists with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife estimate 64 young peregrine falcons fledged from 19 successful nests across the state this year. In 2008, 65 peregrine falcon chicks fledged from 21 nests. Biologists were able to band 59 of these young falcons from 18 successful nest sites during 2009; limited access at some nest sites prevented all young from being banded.

Kincaid Hatchery has the responsibility for raising muskellunge, hybrid striped bass, and rainbow trout that are stocked in public lakes across Ohio.
