A free workshop is available on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will take place at Wildlife District Three, 912 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron.

AKRON, OH – Educators who want to teach wildlife-related conservation concepts through interactive learning are encouraged to attend a free Project WILD workshop in Akron. Growing Up WILD (for ages 3-7 years) and traditional Project WILD (K-12) guidebooks will both be provided at no charge (Aquatic WILD guidebook will also be included). All participants must stay for the duration of the program which is 9am-4pm on Saturday, February 25th. The workshop will take place at the Division of Wildlife District Three office, 912 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron, OH 44319.

FINDLAY, OH – Hunters who wish to continue to hunt deer in northwest Ohio are reminded the only the valid Deer permit has “Either Sex” printed on it. The Deer permit is valid for the remainder of the archery season (through February 5, 2012), the deer gun weekend (December 17 and 18, 2011), and the statewide muzzleloader deer season (January 7 through January 10, 2012), according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. Antlerless deer permits ceased to be valid in Zones A and B on November 27, 2011, and Zone C on December 4, 2011. Hunters who still possess an Antlerless Deer permit may only use it in an Urban Deer Unit or at an Ohio Division of Wildlife controlled deer hunt.

AKRON, OH - The ODNR Division of Wildlife manages the fisheries of more than 170 inland lakes, 40,000 miles of streams, 2.25 million acres of Lake Erie, and Ohio’s portion of 481 miles of the Ohio River. In northeast Ohio, more than 40 lakes with 43,000 acres of water, two pools of the Ohio River, and numerous rivers and streams are monitored in part by Wildlife District Three fisheries management staff.

COLUMBUS, OH - Ohio hunters took 90,282 white-tailed deer during the state's popular, week-long deer-gun season, which ran November 28 through December 4, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. FINDLAY, OH – A male bobcat was recently caught in a trap in Williams County, Ohio according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. Although known to exist in Ohio’s more heavily wooded southern counties, this is the first verified report of a bobcat in northwest Ohio. Until now, all other reports have been unverifiable.
