COLUMBUS, OH – Overlooked wildlife will be the focus of the 2012 Ohio Wildlife Diversity Conference, which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus. FINDLAY, OH- Anglers will no longer be required to make a reservation, or collect a special fishing permit, in order to fish the lakes on the La Su An Wildlife Area according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. Anglers will not be required to check in or out at the Fish Check Station.  All lakes on the area will be open to fishing, however; the number of days that anglers can fish the lakes will be restricted.

Hunters took 19,251 deer during Ohio's muzzleloader season, January 7-10, with Coshocton County again leading the state with 722 deer checked. In 2011, a preliminary total of 16,934 deer were taken during muzzleloader season.

FINDLAY, OH- A male river otter was recently discovered by a trapper in Putnam County, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. The otter was found along the Auglaize River, near Cloverdale, Ohio. This is the first verified report of an otter in Putnam County in recent history.

FINDLAY, OH – Hunters who wish to continue to hunt deer in northwest Ohio are reminded the only the valid Deer permit has “Either Sex” printed on it.  The Deer permit is valid for the remainder of the archery season (through February 5, 2012), the deer gun weekend (December 17 and 18, 2011), and the statewide muzzleloader deer season (January 7 through January 10, 2012), according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife.  Antlerless deer permits ceased to be valid in Zones A and B on November 27, 2011, and Zone C on December 4, 2011.  Hunters who still possess an Antlerless Deer permit may only use it in an Urban Deer Unit or at an Ohio Division of Wildlife controlled deer hunt.
