The following are adjustments to the proposals that were voted on and approved during the April 17 Ohio Wildlife Council meeting. These proposals address public input requesting an increase in recreational opportunities.

Columbus, OH- Peregrine falcon enthusiasts worldwide will decide the name of the falcon chick in downtown Columbus, between Wednesday, May 8th and Monday, May 13th, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife.
Online voting will take place on the Division of Wildlife’s Web page at www.wildohio.com, click on Name the Falcon Chick. The top name will be assigned to the lone falcon nestling living on a 41st floor ledge of the Rhodes State Office Tower.

COLUMBUS, OH – For the opening day of Ohio’s 2013 spring wild turkey season, hunters harvested 2,762 wild turkeys, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). The 2013 opening day total is a 24 percent increase from the 2012 opening day tally when 2,227 turkeys were killed.

State route 2, the east-west route that connects Magee Marsh Wildlife Area to Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area and Maumee Bay State Park, has a bridge closure at Crane Creek.
There is a posted detour which is advised for large vehicles, but cars can follow the directions below.
From the East:
Take State Route 2 to State Route 579 (about 3.5 miles from the entrance to Magee Marsh)
Turn left onto State Route 579 (it only goes left at this point). Go one mile on 579, then turn right (north) onto Elliston-Trowbridge Road. The name of this road changes to Elliston Road. Go 2 miles to State Route 2. Turn right onto State Route 2 to go to Metzger Marsh or left to go to Maumee Bay State Park.
From the West:
While heading east on State Route 2, turn right (south) onto Elliston Road. The name of the road will change to Elliston-Trowbridge. Go 2 miles and turn left onto State Route 579. Route 579 ends at State Route 2. Go right and drive east about 3.5 miles to the entrance to Magee Marsh Wildlife Area.

These routes are organized by the North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS), which is used to track long-term population changes of many bird species.
