The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife is pleased to announce the dedication of the Vern Essi Marsh addition to the Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area in Sandusky County.  Located in the heart of the Lake Erie Marshes, the wetland will add to the already quality habitat at the 3200 acre wildlife area.  The dedication will be November 12th at 2:30 P.M.  This is in conjunction with the Ducks Unlimited (DU) Partnership Event.

XENIA, OH – Hunters along the Clinton and Warren County border have sighted several fallow deer in recent weeks according to biologists of the ODNR Division of Wildlife. Fallow deer are native to Europe but are commonly raised for meat and preserve hunting in the United States.

BEREA, OH - On Wednesday, October 21st, Berea High School in Cuyahoga County was dedicated as an official WILD School Site by the ODNR Division of Wildlife. COLUMBUS, OH – In 2007, Wallace “Wally” O’Dowd of Powell left a bequest to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife to acquire land for the purpose of wildlife conservation, propagation, and habitat management. XENIA, OH – Contrary to popular belief, coyotes are very common in Ohio and have been for quite some time. According to biologists of the ODNR Division of Wildlife, coyotes are not native to Ohio, but have been living in the Buckeye State for well over 80 years.
“Coyotes, which are usually compared to a medium-sized dog, are found in all 88 counties of Ohio,” said Brett Beatty, assistant wildlife management supervisor in southwest Ohio. “Many folks believe coyotes are aggressive animals that should be feared, but that is actually not true. Just like most wild animals, coyotes will often run from the sight or sound of a human,” noted Beatty.
