STATE WILDLIFE OFFICER BEGINS DUTY IN MARION COUNTY

COLUMBUS, OH –State Wildlife Officer Chad Grote, 23, of Kalida, Ohio, began active duty in Marion County on April 12th, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

"I have always had a passion for the outdoors,” said Grote, “and am looking forward to serving the people of Marion County.”

Officer Grote is a 2006 graduate of Hocking College where he earned an Associates Degree in Fish and Wildlife Management.  He worked at Dawes Arboretum before attending the Wildlife Officer Academy.  He has been serving as an at-large officer in southwest Ohio since June 2007.

As a state wildlife officer, Grote will be responsible for enforcing wildlife laws on public lands as well as private lands and providing assistance to other law enforcement agencies as needed.  He will also contact many Ohio sportsmen and women in the field, perform fish and wildlife surveys, advise on nuisance wildlife issues, and give presentations on wildlife management, hunter education, trapping, and fishing.

 He will reside within the county.
