Wildlife Officer Dave Brown Promoted

AKRON, OH – Former Mahoning County Wildlife Officer Dave Brown was recently promoted to Wildlife Officer Supervisor according to the ODNR Division of Wildlife.

Officer Brown will begin his duties of supervising the wildlife officers in seven northeast Ohio counties immediately. The counties include Columbiana, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, and Trumbull.  He will be responsible for coordinating his team of officers on wildlife law enforcement projects, fisheries and wildlife surveys, providing assistance to private landowners, organizing presentations and assistance to conservation clubs and public conservation events, and much more.

“Officer Brown’s years of experience of handling a county with many demands, a large number of conservation clubs and events, media inquiries, and numerous contacts with many recreational users will enable him to be an effective leader.   I am confident he will continue to serve Ohioans well in his new position,” said Jeff Herrick, Division of Wildlife district 3 manager in northeast Ohio.

A native of northeast Ohio, Officer Brown was born in Youngstown and graduated from Girard High School in 1975. Following his graduation from Hocking College in 1979 with an Associates Degree in Recreation & Wildlife Management emphasizing Law Enforcement, Brown was accepted into the Wildlife Officer Cadet Academy and graduated in June of 1981. Brown joined the Lake Erie law enforcement unit where he worked for two years. Per his request, Brown then transferred home to Mahoning County where he remained the wildlife officer for 26 years and still resides.
