STARK COUNTY DEER PROCESSOR FOUND GUILTY
OF WILDLIFE VIOLATIONS
Navarre man ordered to pay $3,500 in fines and restitution
AKRON, OH – A Stark County deer processor was found guilty yesterday of four wildlife violations, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
Wayne King, 66, of Navarre, owner of King’s Meats processing business, entered no contest pleas in Massillon Municipal Court to charges of offering wild animals for sale, possessing untagged deer parts and failing to maintain accurate records. All are misdemeanors.
King was convicted and ordered to pay $300 in fines and $3,200 in restitution to the state. A 60-day jail sentence was suspended, pending no more wildlife violations in the next five years.
At the time of his arrest, officers seized 200 pounds of untagged deer from King’s business.
