Project WILD and WILD School Sites Combined Workshop Open to Educators
Free workshop in Poland, Ohio focuses on wildlife conservation in and out of the classroom
POLAND, OH – Poland North Elementary School in Mahoning County will open its doors to both formal and non-formal educators for a free Project WILD/WILD School Sites workshop on Thursday, March 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Teachers, youth group leaders, naturalists, and others will find this workshop both exciting and informative.
These popular, international, education programs combine conservation and environmental education focusing on wildlife. The curriculums, which are correlated to Ohio’s academic content standards, are designed for classrooms of all grade levels, youth groups, nature centers, and other educational outlets. Project WILD guides, Aquatic WILD guides, WILD School Sites resource guides and other related information will be distributed at no charge.
Project WILD involves young people and wildlife, a proven formula for generating interest and participation. Project WILD is a supplementary education program emphasizing awareness, appreciation, and understanding of wildlife and natural resources. Attractive and easy to use, Project WILD is an ideal way to supplement your curriculum and fire the imagination of your students.
WILD School Sites is considered an action extension of Project WILD and can involve any school property used by students, teachers, and the school community as a place to learn about and benefit from wildlife and the environment. The sites function within the premise that every school, regardless of size and location, can provide outdoor educational opportunities that can and should be part of any integrated education program. Poland North ES will soon be certified as an official Ohio WILD School Site. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to see several outdoor projects that might help inspire them.
