Workshop Offered For Early Childhood Educators On August 13th
Lorain County Metro Parks to host workshop at Vermilion River Reservation
Vermilion, OH – Both formal and non-formal educators who work with children ages three to seven are invited to attend a Growing Up WILD and Pre-K Project Learning Tree combined workshop in Lorain County on Friday, August 13th. The workshop, which will be facilitated by ODNR Division of Wildlife and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service personnel, will be held at the Vermilion River Reservation of Lorain County Metro Parks from 9:00am-3:00pm.
Growing Up WILD and Pre-K PLT are early childhood education programs that build on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Workshop participants will take home two easy-to-use books containing more than 60 field-tested activities focusing on wildlife and nature. These activities blend social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive skills to help foster learning and are correlated to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Standards and the Head Start Domains.
There is a $15 workshop fee which will be collected the day of the workshop and registration is required by calling the Vermilion River Reservation at 440-967-7310. The Growing Up WILD guidebook is provided to participants for free thanks to donations to the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Registration is open until August 9th. Please plan to bring your own brown bag lunch. Questions about the workshop may be directed to Jamey Graham, Division of Wildlife, at (330) 245-3020.
