TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH CENTER DISCONTINUES DEER GUN HUNTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2010-11 SEASON
Archery hunting opportunities have been expanded

COLUMBUS, OH – Deer gun hunting opportunities on Transportation Research Center (TRC) managed properties near Marysville, Ohio have been discontinued for the 2010-11 Deer Hunting Season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.  This includes the Youth Deer Gun, Statewide Deer Gun (including the bonus weekend) and Statewide Muzzleloader deer hunting seasons.

“The archery hunting opportunities offered last year were very effective at managing the population of deer found on the TRC properties,” said Gary Ludwig, Wildlife Management Supervisor in Central Ohio.  “We took the opportunity to expand on that success by working with the managers at TRC to open more of their property to archery hunting this year.”

A public drawing was held on September 14, 2010 for archery deer hunting opportunities during the 2010-11 Archery Deer season.  A news release went out prior to the event and over 150 individuals attended.  No additional drawings will be held for archery hunting opportunities for the upcoming season.

Ludwig went on to say, “About this time of year, hunters would begin sending in postcards to enter drawings for the various deer gun hunting opportunities available at TRC.  Since there will be no drawings held for any type of firearms deer hunting opportunities on TRC this year, unsolicited registration cards mailed to the District One Office will be discarded without notification.”
