2010 Special Trapping Drawing for Pickerel Creek and Pipe Creek Wildlife Areas
A one-time drawing will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. for trapping in the controlled hunting area on the Pickerel Creek and Pipe Creek Wildlife Areas.
- NOTE: Certain zones at Pickerel Creek and Pipe Creek will be reserved for Youth / Handicapped Priority. Youth are age 17 and under. Zones not taken by youth/handicapped will be available to other trappers. The trapper that is chosen may designate an assistant to assist him/her. Adults are encouraged to choose a youth as an assistant.
- All participants must register prior to 6:30 p.m., and must show a valid 2009 or 2010 Ohio Furtakers Permit. Plan on being at the Pickerel Creek Headquarters by 6:00 p.m.
- No one may enter the Controlled Trapping Area for inspection prior to receiving a permit.
- The drawing will be held at the Pickerel Creek Wildlife Area Headquarters, 3451 C.R. 256, Vickery, Ohio.
- Registration forms will be completed by the trapper, and placed into a drum. As these forms are drawn, that trapper must select a unit to trap in. A letter permit will be mailed to the participant, and further instructions will be given by the area manager. Alternate trappers' names will be drawn for each segment of the trapping season.
- The permits will be valid for portions of the trapping season, with some restrictions on times and dates. The trapping dates of the FIRST SEGMENT for all areas including the refuge will be November 14, 2010 to November 19, 2010. A SECOND SEGMENT will be permitted at Pickerel Creek in Units G / 4/5 and 6/7 only December 19, 2010 to January 21, 2011. A SECOND SEGMENT will be permitted in Zone 1 and 2/3 only starting December 19, 2010 and ending March 15, 2011. All other zones will be open for public trapping / hunting beginning December 19, 2010 when the Controlled Waterfowl Hunting Area Signs are taken down.
- Permits are not transferable.
- Reports of catches must be received at the area headquarters by 3:00 p.m. on the Saturday following your permit period.
- Reports may be placed in Permit Drop Box at area headquarters.
- Area Managers reserve the authority to assign alternates to a unit if primary trappers are not obeying trapping rules and regulations.
- Area Managers reserve authority to modify dates and zones within the refuge.
- Boats with outboard motors may be used at "No Wake" speed.
- Trappers not complying to the Controlled Trapping Program at Pickerel and Pipe Creek Wildlife Areas will forfeit their right to participate in future drawings.
- NOTE: It is unlawful for any person to buy, sell, trade or barter any Division of Wildlife issued controlled hunting, fishing or trapping permit.
