Columbiana County Lake To Be Drained For Repairs

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, OH- Zepernick Lake, a 39-acre Division of Wildlife-owned lake within the Zepernick Wildlife Area in Columbiana County (located along SR 172), will be drained for repairs later this fall according to the Ohio Division of Wildlife.
Zepernick Lake was last drained in 1986 and restocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and channel catfish in 1989.  “In recent years the outlet pipe for the dam has started to steadily deteriorate.  Unfortunately, this will necessitate draining the lake again, which the Division of Wildlife plans on doing late this fall,” said Phil Hillman, fish management supervisor for Wildlife District Three Headquarters in Akron.  “We don’t have a timetable for the repair work to be completed, since the work has not yet been bid to contractors,” noted Hillman.
Zepernick Lake will be restocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish once the repair work is completed.  The Division of Wildlife thanks our customers for their patience and understanding during this repair process. For questions or concerns call Wildlife District Three at (330) 644-2293.
