Final Stocking of Surplus Trout to Take Place at
Punderson and Antrim Park Lakes

COLUMBUS, OH - Anglers visiting Punderson Lake, Geauga County, and Antrim Park Lake, Franklin County will get their final chance at catching large, “broodstock” brown and rainbow trout later this month. The large trout will be stocked at Punderson Lake on November 22 and at Antrim Lake on November 23.
These surplus fish have often been stocked in both waters when they outlived their role in on-site production of eggs at the London State Fish Hatchery.  New fish hatchery procedures, which involve purchase of trout eggs from a private producer, will provide more reliable fish production without the expense of retaining large fish as broodstock.  “We have been pleased to provide these bonus fishing opportunities by stocking surplus broodstock trout, but welcome our new procedures involving the purchase of trout eggs, which provides greater consistency in trout production at lower cost,” stated Tim Parrett, Fish Hatchery Program Administrator.
