“PASSPORT TO FISHING” WORKSHOPS OFFERED IN SOUTHWEST OHIO
XENIA, OH -- Four “Passport to Fishing” instructor workshops will be offered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Division of Wildlife. The workshops will be held on January 11, 2008 at National Trails Parks, Springfield; February 22, 2008 at Darke County Parks, Greenville; March 28, 2008 at the City of Hamilton Parks, Hamilton; and April 25, 2008 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center, Hillsboro. Each training session will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m.
“Passport to Fishing” is sponsored in part by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation. It is a quick and easy program intended to be used with half-day and whole-day fishing events. Fishing fundamentals are taught including casting, knots and rigging, habitat and handling. It is tailored so that instructors, even without much knowledge of aquatic education, can teach young people how to fish. Passport is geared towards youth ages 4 – 17, and is promoted as an easy way to learn the basics of angling, get kids outdoors and on the road to a lifetime of recreational activity.
Interested individuals can register by calling Jennifer McCray at 1-800-WILDLIFE or at (614) 265-6539.
