ADDITONAL RAINBOW TROUT TO BE RELEASED IN RUSH RUN LAKE
800-1000 Trout to be stocked April 16

XENIA,OH – In addition to the 2,900 rainbow trout that were stocked in Rush Run Lake on March 7, 2008 another 800-1000 will be released today, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.

The Castalia and Kincaid State Fish Hatcheries have reported excellent production this year.  Having met the statewide stocking goal of 80,000 they have an additional surplus of rainbow trout to make available to anglers.  The fish are generally 10-13 inches in size and are ready for the frying pan or oven.

"This additional stocking, provides excellent opportunities for anglers to get out and enjoy the spring fishing season," said Doug Maloney, fish management supervisor with the Division of Wildlife District Five. His recommendations for catching the trout are small spinners, spoons, jigs, wax worms and redworms, salmon eggs or prepared baits like Gulp or PowerBait.

The trout stocking program targets small inland waters, including state and community park lakes, as well as other easy-access lakes throughout the state.
Anglers age 16 and older must have an Ohio fishing license. Fishing licenses can be purchased online at www.wildohio.com and at any of the many license vendors around the state. Ohio residents who were born on or before December 31, 1937 may obtain a free license from any license vendor.

The 2008 annual resident fishing license costs $19 and is valid through the last day of February 2009. A one-day fishing license may be purchased for $11. The one-day license may also be redeemed for credit toward purchase of an annual fishing license during the same license year.

Additional information about trout releases is available from Division of Wildlife district offices in Akron, Athens, Columbus, Findlay and Xenia; or by calling toll free 1-800-WILDLIFE. Visit the Division website at www.wildohio.com.
