FREE FISHING DAYS YOUTH EVENT TO BE HELD AT ADAMSLAKESTATE PARK
8th Annual Free Fishing Day Jakes even held t in memory of Dave McCarty
WEST UNION, OH – Area youths are invited to fish at Adams Lake State Park on Saturday, May 3, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part Ohio’s Free Fishing Days weekend, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The Adams County Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation is sponsoring the event in honor of Dave McCarty. McCarty a longtime member of the chapter was very active in the yearly youth events; his dedication and participation will be greatly missed say fellow organizers.
Adams Lake was stocked on March 6, 2008. The Division of Wildlife, hatcheries unit, released 2,400 rainbow trout in the lake, each measuring between 6”- 14” and weighing up to ½ lb. Along with trout anglers will also have the opportunity to catch crappie and bluegill.
Fishing poles and bait will be provided but youth may bring their own equipment also. The Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District will have canoes available for the participants to enjoy and learn about water safety. The Division of Wildlife will once again do a turkey trapping demonstration using the rocket net. The event is free. Refreshments will be provided. Door prizes will also be awarded during the day.
No fishing licenses are required during Ohio’s Free Fishing Days, May 3 and 4, 2008. At all times other than Free Fishing Days, anglers 16 years of age and older must have an Ohio fishing license. The annual resident license costs $19.00. A one-day fishing license costs $11.00. The daily bag limit is five trout per angler.
