Suspect Arrested for Alleged Cultivation of Marijuana on Public Land
CAMBRIDGE, OH - A Guernsey County man faces criminal charges involving the alleged cultivation of marijuana at Salt Fork Wildlife Area in Guernsey County, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
The investigation was initiated by a report from a concerned sportsman who notified authorities of finding a camping area in a remote section of the 14,952-acre wildlife area earlier this year.
The Division of Wildlife, in partnership with the Ohio State Patrol, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI), the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office arrested the suspect this morning at Salt Fork Wildlife Area. Officers seized marijuana plants that were grown on the area. In addition to the arrest, two search warrants have been executed.
The investigation into this case is ongoing and charges are pending further investigation. Additional arrests may follow.
If convicted, the suspects will face fines as well as possible jail time.
