CINCINNATI, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in conjunction with the Southern Ohio Dog and Game Protectors Association and the Hamilton County Farm Bureau are hosting a Deer Hunter Workshop from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008. The workshop will be held at The Southern Ohio Dog & Game Protective Association, 10630 East Miami River Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45252. Doors open at 1:00 pm for social hour.
There is a $5.00 fee for the workshop to cover the costs of the meal. Participants are asked to pre-register by calling the Hamilton County Farm Bureau, (513) 831-5870 by September 12. You must be pre-registered to attend. No walk-ins please. Registered participants will receive a ticket for the door prize drawing as well as printed materials. All registered youth under the age of 18 will receive a FREE incentive item.
Sponsors for this event include,Southern Ohio Dog & Game, Hamilton County Farm Bureau, Bass Pro Shops, Whitetails Unlimited, and ODNR Division of Wildlife. Presentations will include speakers from, Summit Treestands Inc., Redding Taxidermy, Whitetail Deer Processing, and the Division of Wildlife, as well as presentations on field preservation of trophies for mounting, field dressing, preparing venison for the freezer and the table, and skinning and butchering. Mike Tonkovitch, Wildlife Biologist with the Division of Wildlife will discuss management of Ohio’s deer herd. Wildlife issues, and laws and regulations for the upcoming season will be presented by the Division staff as well. Participants can also bring in their deer racks to be scored by certified scorers. Space is limited to the first 20 racks, first come first serve. Also attending this event are Hamilton County Farm Bureau, Stenger Outdoor Products, Hamilton County Park District, Cincinnati Parks, Ten Point Crossbow, Heartland Wildlife Institute, and Wm. E. Fagaly & Sons Inc.
