XENIA, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in conjunction with the Ohio State University Extension Office in Mercer County are hosting a Deer Harvest Workshop from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Mercer County Fairgrounds, on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
There is a $5.00 fee, per person, for the workshop to cover the costs of a light supper that will be served during the evening. Participants are asked to pre-register by September 26. Please call the Ohio State University Extension Office in Mercer County at (419) 586-2179 to register or send your registration to OSU Extension, 220 West Livingston St., Room B252, Celina, OH  45822-1632. Make checks payable to OSU Extension - Mercer County.  Pre-registration is required by September 26, no walk-ins.
Presentations will include speakers from Fisher Meats, Division of Wildlife, OSU Extension Office as well as presentations on field preservation of trophies for mounting, field dressing, preparing venison for the freezer and the table, and skinning and butchering. The Division of Wildlife will cover wildlife issues and laws and regulations for the upcoming season.
