Program Facts & Figures:

In 2006, ODNR's Fountain Square recycling program recycled 81,306 pounds of material. This represents 31% of the total waste generated at ODNR's Fountain Square complex. The amount of collected recyclables decreased approximately 20% over 2005's numbers. This is a reflection of staff reductions and decreased waste generation – specifically confidential document destruction and collected bulbs/ballasts.
The economic benefit to ODNR was $5,480.92 in avoided waste costs plus generated revenues. This is an increase of approximately 39% over 2005 numbers. This can be attributed to the implementation of a new recycling service contract, a change of service providers, improved materials grading and better recycling markets.
Recycling at Home:
The department encourages employees to reduce and recycle the waste they generate at home. Curbside collection and county drop-off opportunities are viable options. |
