Fishing opportunities abound on Lake Erie. The Division of Wildlife's Lake Erie Fishing Guide lists access points (ramps and marinas) for those fishing out of their own boats. Charter boats are another great way to take advantage of Lake Erie fishing opportunities if you don't own a larger boat or are unfamiliar with Lake Erie fishing. The Division of Wildlife does not recommend or promote specific charter guides, but some of the larger charter boat organizations are provided for your reference below. Lake Erie is a powerful force, don't underestimate it! Always leave port with operational safety, navigational, and communications equipment. This means life jackets, flares, lights, compass and marine radio (even a cellular phone) in good working order. Know and obey the marine "rules of the road:" Link to ODNR-Watercraft. Don't zoom full throttle into a pack of fishing boats; it can spook the fish.
