Web of Life:
The Food Web

The sun is the source of energy. The sun helps green plants grow. Print out the picture below and in the circle, draw a line from the sun to the grass. Many animals eat green plants. Next, draw a line from the grass to the grasshopper. Now, what might eat a grasshopper? A frog! Draw another line connecting the grasshopper and the frog. Continue connecting the animals to what they might eat OR to what might eat them. You have just created a food web.

What would happen if one of the animals in your food web was removed? Follow the lines to all the animals that would be affected. What happens to the food web when one of the animals is lost to extinction? The main reason for extinction is the loss of wildlife habitat.
