The European skipper was accidentally introduced into London, Ontario in 1910. Since then it has spread across most of the northern U.S. and Canada.

Description
The European skipper is a golden skipper that is almost unmarked above. The wide golden yellow fringe on the ventral hindwing is a good characteristic to use to separate the European skipper from other golden skippers.

Habitat and Habits
The European skipper inhabits agricultural fields, pastures, and open fields. It is found in most regions, but is more common in central and northwestern parts of the state. This skipper sometimes can be found by the thousands at mud puddles.

Reproduction and Care of the Young
The larvae of the European skipper feed on Timothy grass.
