  The pearl crescent is almost as common as the cabbage white. You can usually count on seeing this species whenever you are outdoors.

Description
Females are larger than males and are darker with white markings on their dorsal forewings.

Habitat and Habits
The pearl crescent inhabits all fields, woodland edges, roadsides, and gardens. It can be found in all 88 Ohio counties.

Reproduction and Care of the Young
The larvae of the pearl crescent feed on asters.
