This species, like the spring azure, is fond of mud puddles and animal scat. Huge "puddle clubs" can be found on muddy roads, trails, and stream banks. The mid-summer brood is not as numerous as the spring and fall broods.

Description
The summer azure is actually larger than the spring azure with brilliant blue dorsal wing surfaces.

Habitat and Habits
The summer azure inhabits roads and trails through woods, woodland edges, and gardens. It can be found in all 88 Ohio counties.

Reproduction and Care of the Young
The larvae feed on dogwoods, wild cherry, and wingstem.
