Jeffrey Keller, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year
Jeff Keller, a former Mansfield resident now residing in Bellevue, has been named the 2012 Ohio Watercraft Officer of the Year by the ODNR Division of Watercraft.
Keller joined the Division of Watercraft in 2010 as a state watercraft officer assigned to the Sandusky area office where he patrols Lake Erie. Keller is a former ranger with the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and had worked as a deputy sheriff in Morrow and Richland counties. He attained his Ohio Peace Officer Training certificate in 2004.
The Mansfield Madison High School graduate was honored by ODNR for his exemplary service this year to the State of Ohio and Ohio boaters. In addition to enforcing Ohio’s boating laws and providing assistance to boaters, Keller works to instruct Ohioans in boating safety education, increase public awareness about boating safety and boating rules, and maintains a high level of proficiency in a diversity of marine law enforcement training programs offered through ODNR.
The ODNR Division of Watercraft administers Ohio’s boating programs. The agency oversees watercraft registration and titling operations, provides funding to local communities for education, enforcement and boating access facilities, educates the public, and enforces boating laws on Ohio’s waterways.
The ODNR ensures a balance between wise use and protection of our natural resources for the benefit of all.
