A small foreshock to the October 17th mainshock occurred on October 16th at 1:05 p.m. EDT, beneath Lake Erie about four miles northwest of Mentor. The magnitude was 2.4. There were no felt reports for this event although earthquakes of this size have been reported to have been felt in the past.
