Click on a county to download its Soil Survey text. The text was generated from the most current survey manuscripts available. For most counties this means the text is at least 10 years old.
Soil Survey Supplements - are county soil survey text and tables that have been updated to include new mapping units, new text, and new tables addressing new land use concerns. Soil survey supplements do not include updated maps. It should be noted that any soil survey is only as current as its publication date.
Interim Soil Surveys – are preliminary text and tables published for county Soil Survey update projects. These are produced so that users will have up-to-date information while waiting for the final edition of the soil survey to be released. Soil survey text gives all the background information on soil map units, the county, and how the survey was made.
It is recommended to use only the text included in the soil surveys. Official up-to-date tables and soil maps should be viewed or downloaded at the Soil Data Mart or via the Web Soil Survey. At the Soil Data Mart select the "generate reports" button to then select desired tables.
Soil survey tables display many of the characteristics of the soil map units:
- septic site suitability,
- source of construction materials,
- wildlife habitat,
- soil physical properties,
- extent of soils, and
- engineering properties
- and more!
