When a critical incident occurs at a DNR facility or when an employee is involved in a critical incident, the occasion needs to be reported to the Radio Room as soon as possible. Only severe incidents will be reported. The Radio Room will be responsible for notification of the Director's staff.
Critical Incidents are defined as:
Incidents involving severe property damage Loss of life Severe personal injury Shootings Severe hunting accidents Fire in an ODNR facility Natural disasters Other incidents which could affect the operation within ODNR
The affected division, via DNR radio, will notify the ODNR Columbus Radio Room system or phone. The DNR radio room will make the necessary departmental notifications.
Timely reporting of critical incidents is imperative. The Radio Room shall be notified ASAP to begin contact. The attached Critical Incident Notification Form will be utilized by the Radio Room personnel when a critical incident is reported. This form may be reproduced locally and distributed to field staff so they are aware of the information to obtain prior to reporting a critical incident.
Many times critical incidents generate inquiries from the Governors Office, media, and others. It is therefore vital that the Directors Office be "up to speed" on what is happening.
This directive only affects notification of the Directors Office staff of divisional critical incidents. It does not limit division internal notification processes.
