ACADIA CLIFFS STATE NATURE PRESERVE - 112 ACRES

Sandstone cliff communities

Although this site was previously mined by the Acadia Coal Company, the sandstone cliff communities are still intact and of statewide significance. Among the many ferns growing on these cliffs is the state threatened Bradley's Spleenwort. Currently, this is Ohio's only protected site for this species. The preserve was a gift to the state from the Acadia Coal Company in 1994.

Location:

Located approximately 3 miles southwest of Cutler in Washington County on County Rd 3. The preserve is located on both sides of County Rd 3 and extends into Athens County. No visitor facilities are present and the preserve is unmarked. The preserve is owned and managed by ODNR's Division of Wildlife as a public hunting area. For more information, call 614-265-1055.
