Fishes of Ohio's State Scenic Rivers

Ohio is blessed with an abundance of water, but like all developing areas, impacts from past and present land use practices have all too often created adverse impacts to our water resources.

Landuse practices that allow soil to runoff into our waterways following rainfall cause silting of streams and increases turbidity which can result in a lowering of water quality and thus a loss in the diversity of natural aquatic organisms.

Fish have specific habitat requirements that tell us a great deal about the health of the fish community, as well as the quality of the water.
