| Ohio State Parks offer more than 1,000 miles of trails that come in all lengths and levels of difficulty, and pass through all sorts of terrain.
A number of state park trails (see the complete Ohio list) weave in and out of the park into adjacent state forests or nature preserves, while some mesh with major trails systems such as the Buckeye Trail or North Country Scenic Trail.
Many parks offer self-guided nature trails with interpretive signs or brochures, and several offer accessible paved or boardwalk trails. Burr Oak, Caesar Creek, East Fork, and Tar Hollow, along with Shawnee State Forest and Zaleski State Forest near Lake Hope, offer lengthy backpacking trails with primitive campsites.
Bridle trails also accommodate hikers or cross-country skiers, and several parks offer horsemen's camps. Mountain bikes are permitted at someparks on dedicated trails or designated segments of multiple use trails.
