Origin Time: 27 February, 2006 20:53:20.48 UTC
Location: 41.92º N   80.83º W
Magnitude: 2.0 mbLg
Depth: 5 km (Fixed)

A very small earthquake occurred beneath Lake Erie at 3:53 p.m. EST on February 27, 2006, about 3 kilometers northwest of Ashtabula. No felt reports were received, which is not surprising considering the small magnitude of this event, which was near the lower threshold of being felt by people. If felt, most would not recognize it as an earthquake, although one person did feel a 2.0-magnitude event on December 11, 2005 that was very close to the location of the 27 February earthquake. Earthquakes occurred near this location in 1995 (2.5 magnitude) and 2000 (2.0 magnitude).
