Coordinate Conversion Software |
 |
Different mapping projects call for the use of different coordinate systems. The Ohio Geological Survey provides most data to the public with both NAD27 state plane coordinates and latitude/longitude values. However, some data files may only contain one or the other. In addition, some users may have a need for other coordinate values, such as Universal Transverse Mercator values. Changing your data between these coordinate systems is best accomplished via coordinate conversion software. The Army Corps of Engineeers provides a fairly good program for free on their Website. We offer it to our users here for convenience. This program, called CORPSCON, allows users to transform coordinate values between the NAD 27, Old Hawaiian, Puerto Rico, or Alaska Island datums and NAD 83 values when those values are expressed as state plane coordinates, UTM coordinates, or latitude and longitude. The user may specify NAD 83 state plane coordinate values in meters, the U.S. Survey Foot, or International Foot. A math co-processor is required, and at least 1.5 MB of hard-drive storage is recommended.
