Digital Data File 2

Well information and records from the Risk-Based Data Management System (RBDMS), created and maintained by the ODNR Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. DDF2 contains all recorded Knox or deeper wells in the eastern half of the state plus all of the wells contained in RBDMS for the western half of the state (5,381 as of July 2009).

Digital Data File 4 (POGO)

Production of Oil and Gas in Ohio (POGO) Database
Compiled by the staff of the ODNR Division of Geological Survey, Technology Transfer Group
1999 (updated yearly)
Price: $25 on CD-ROM (plus tax and handling)

The Production of Oil and Gas in Ohio (POGO) database—the most comprehensive oil-and-gas database ever assembled for Ohio—contains production data gathered directly from petroleum industry companies and individuals plus all of the production data gathered by the former Division of Oil and Gas, since 1983. All records in DDF 4 have been matched against valid permits (or older well records). The POGO database contains over 1,300,000 yearly records for more than 83,000 wells, with some records as early as 1921. DDF 4 also contains approximately 84,000 monthly production records.

Standardized queries have been provided for the user as part of the Microsoft Access database application, including the ability to search by county, township, section, lot, producing formation, operator, API number, and various combinations of these attributes. User-defined queries also can be constructed. Decline curves and estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) calculations can be produced and printed on a well-by-well basis. Query results can be exported to Microsoft Excel for use with other software packages.

Purchase online now  OR  Order by phone or mail

Yearly updates to the POGO database are available for free download to those who have purchased the CD-ROM. See links below for access to the FTP site.

Digital Data File 5

Digital Geophysical Logs

DDF 5 is no longer available. However, the Division of Geological Survey offers geophysical logs from oil and gas wells (and some of the Survey's core holes) in digital format, available on CD-ROM. Paper prints of scanned logs are also available.

Click here for more information about how to order geophysical logs.

Digital Data File 6

The Ohio Compilation of Devonian Shale Data and Investigations
Version 2.0, 2012
Price: $25 on CD-ROM (plus tax and handling)

A Devonian shale production database that contains all available data through 2005, including core descriptions, density, gas analyses, total organic content, various geochemical analyses, and pertinent publications about Devonian shale. The latest Version 2.0 includes an additional database with data on formation tops and production from a 1988 study by Gas Research Institute. Click here for more information.

Digital Data File 7

Compilation of Miscellaneous Reports and Data for NGO Development #3-A Reiss Well in Adams Township, Coshocton County, Ohio
Price: $50 on DVD (plus tax and handling)

Open-hole data was collected from the #3-A Reiss Well as part of a 1992 case study for the U.S. Department of Energy on the Cambrian Rose Run sandstone (learn more here). The data was integrated into the report to gain a better understanding of the stratigraphy and geophysical properties of Ordovician and Cambrian rock units in the vicinity of the Bakersville field.

Files contained in DDF-7 include data and scanned reports on a vertical seismic profile (VSP), along with sidewall core analyses, an LAS file, and TIF format geophysical logs. The original VSP data was copied into two SEG-Y files, which provide header information, including field data and computations, processing results, modeling, and interpretation. Specialized seismic processing software is required to read the SEG-Y files.
