Governor Strickland, ODNR Director Logan to Celebrate Earth Day with Students in Nature's Classroom

Big Darby Scenic River is part of Earth Day lesson plan

COLUMBUS, OH - In recognition of Earth Day, when Ohioans celebrate the earth's resources and discuss environmental issues and solutions, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland and Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Sean Logan will emphasize the critical role that natural resources play in improving education in Ohio. They will join a central Ohio biology class in assessing water quality and observing changes in the Big Darby Scenic River during a program coordinated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.

Hands-on, outdoor learning such as this program helps Ohio students thrive. Research has shown that children who are in touch with their natural environment do better in school, have increased creativity and improved concentration.
