 Ohio State Park Manager Recognized for Outstanding Leadership

 
COLUMBUS, OH - An Ohio State Park manager who exemplifies the high standards of customer service and community relations that help Ohio State Parks shine has been recognized as a premier leader within the agency.
 
Scott Doty recently received the 2008 Ohio State Parks Leadership Award. Doty has over 29 years with Ohio State Parks with 10 ½ years as regional manager of the Lake Erie Islands, which includes Catawaba, Kelleys Island, South Bass Island, Middle Bass Island and North Bass Island state parks. The well-respected park official was nominated by his peers for his professionalism and exemplary management skills.
 
"Scott Doty consistently demonstrates the values, qualities and attitude that are expected of a successful manager," said Ohio State Parks Chief Dan West. "His communication capabilities, community relations skills and cooperative attitude have been instrumental in many projects and he makes customer service a top priority."
 
Doty's staff appreciate how he listens to their contributions and encourages their growth as employees and leaders. He acts as a mentor, encouraging each to expand their knowledge and stressing work ethics and values that will benefit them throughout their careers. He is organized, efficient and willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish objectives. He stays on course and conveys his passion to protect and enhance the natural resources entrusted to his care.
 
In April of this year, Doty became the regional manager of the Maumee Bay Region which includes Maumee Bay, Harrison Lake, Independence Dam, M.J. Thurston and Van Buren state parks.
 
Ohio's 74 state parks encompass nine resort lodges, six golf courses, more than 500 cottages and 57 campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites.
