ODNR Supports Community Recycling Programs to Conserve Energy, Reduce Waste

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will help nearly two dozen communities throughout Ohio implement and develop local recycling and litter prevention efforts.

Twenty-two communities will receive ODNR Community Development Grants to expand residential and commercial recycling programs, initiate new ones and revitalize others. The projects, which include commercial and deconstruction material recycling, curbside and drop-off recycling programs and organic material processing, will allow individuals and businesses in Ohio to reduce the waste they generate and the negative impact of that waste.

"Recycling conserves energy and natural resources, saves landfill space and creates jobs," said ODNR Director Sean Logan. "It is part of a comprehensive waste and resource reduction strategy that benefits our natural world and our economy."
