ODNR Helps Create Jobs in Recycling Industry

COLUMBUS, OH
- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) will give a boost to the recycling industry that will increase the market for recycled materials in Ohio and create dozens of new jobs. In addition, ODNR announced the funding of a waste to energy project, which will involve the conversion of landfill generated methane gas to usable energy.

Private-public partnerships in seven communities will receive ODNR Market Development Grants to help create the infrastructure necessary for successful markets of recyclable material and related products. The grants will be used for a variety of purposes, including the purchase of equipment, product manufacturing, material processing and recovery or facility expansion. The funded programs will generate 25 new jobs in and around Lorain, Summit, Sandusky and Warren counties.

"These projects represent a great boost for our environment and a highly efficient use of public dollars," said ODNR Director Sean Logan. "They create jobs, attract and support new business and technology, redirect valuable materials out of the waste stream and reduce the strain on landfills."
