Wetlands Hike at Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve
Event part of the family-friendly Natural Areas Discovery Series
HOLLAND, OHIO - Ohio’s wetlands are a marvel of unique plant communities, wildlife inhabitants and fragile landscape. Visitors are invited to join a wetland hike at Irwin Prairie State Nature Preserve, part of the Natural Areas Discovery Series, on Saturday, August 15 at 1 p.m. in Lucas County.
This naturalist-led hike will focus on the remarkable wet prairie ecosystem found at Irwin Prairie which provides high quality habitat for a number of native plant and wildlife species. Visitors will see a number of the two dozen rare plants found here in bloom.
Irwin Prairie, a 223-acre site, features one of the finest sedge meadows remaining in the state. The site is a mosaic of distinct plant communities and wetlands which vary with the water table. For event information, call 419-445-1775.

Children who hike with their families during the special events and throughout the year can receive credit towards the ODNR Explore the Outdoors Hike a Trail activity.
