Columbus Resident Promoted To Lead
ODNR Division Of Watercraft’s Public Information  Education Section

COLUMBUS, OH – Cynthia J. Bellar, of Columbus, has been promoted to Public Information and Education Manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Watercraft. Bellar most recently worked in the division’s Law Enforcement/Search and Rescue Section managing the Marine Patrol Grant Assistance Program.

She first joined ODNR as a Division of Wildlife intern in 1988 and also worked as an intern for the Division of Watercraft. She then joined Ohio State Parks as a park officer; and in 1996 moved to the Division of Watercraft as a state watercraft officer working out of the division’s Springfield and Wapakoneta area offices. Bellar was promoted to the position of Natural Resources Administrator 1 in the Columbus headquarters at Fountain Square in 2003 where she managed the Marine Patrol Grant Assistance Program.

Bellar is a graduate of Hocking Technical College. In 1991, she received her bachelor of science degree in natural resources from The Ohio State University.

Effective January 3, Bellar will be responsible for the division’s boating education programs, publications and communications efforts. She succeeds Emily King, who will retire December 31 from the Division of Watercraft following 33 years of public service to Ohio’s boaters.
